tra-di-tion (transmission of knowledge, customs, and practices from generation to generation.)
art (human ability to make things creatively as distinguished from the world of nature.)

We risk the loss of our culture and history when we ignore the need to enjoy and interact with links to our past. Traditional arts remain contemporary when they continue to be honored in our everyday lives. In this era of recycled, disposable pop culture, it is exceedingly important that we maintain the bridges to our artistic past. The youth of today are bombarded with the images and sounds marketed as art, but generated by corporations motivated soley by profit. The near absence of educational programs that teach of our rich, artistic past, is what first inspired the incorporators of the NAAA to take action. Our sole purpose is to provide opportunities for meaningful exchanges between audiences and traditional art and artists. We do this by offering and supporting concerts, contests, educational workshops, festivals, music camps, and artist residencies.
